2 Shot, Wounded 5 Hours Apart in Roosevelt


Two men, one of whom was standing next to a toddler, were shot less than five hours apart in Roosevelt on Sunday night, Nassau County police said.

A man was shot in the leg as he stood on the street with a 2-year-old boy near the corner of Washington Avenue and Willet Place at 7:10 p.m., police said. 

Later, a man was shot at the corner of Nassau Road and Hudson Avenue at 11:59 p.m.

In the first case, the suspect was described as a black man wearing a doo-rag, face mask, white t-shirt and blue jeans who fled eastbound through rear yards on Willett Place.

In the second case, the shooter fired from a passing black, gold-trimmed Ford Expedition, Eddie Bauer edition, that was last seen fleeing northbound on Nassau Road to eastbound Fulton Avenue.

Both victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Each shooting was picked up  by the Shot Spotter notification system.

First Squad detectives ask anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous.

    It’s amazing to me that “shot spotter” in Uniondale and Roosevelt hasn’t burned out yet with all the activity.
