Live-brary.com, the new digital branch of the public libraries of Suffolk County, officially launches on September 21, 2010 when library communities host Go Live with Your Library.“We’ve seen a surge in the circulation of our downloadable entertainment,” observed Huntington Public Library Director Debra Engelhardt. “And as the cost of eReaders has come down and the selection of eBooks has gone up, summer vacationers made great use of this free resource and more are discovering the benefits and ease of access every day.”
Launch events will be taking place at libraries around the county from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on September 21. Teams of ‘roving reporters’ will greet library patrons at numerous libraries around the County to introduce Live-brary.com and to video-record impressions from willing patrons on their memories, stories, and favorite moments spent at their local public library. These short segments will be uploaded to Live-brary.com for viewing. Balloons, music and entertainment will add to the launch day festivities.
