CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The NBA has suspended Charlotte Bobcats top scorer Stephen Jackson one game for verbally abusing an official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner following his ejection from Saturday’s loss to Milwaukee. Tuesday’s penalty comes less than a month after Jackson was fined $50,000 for making inappropriate comments to the officials after a loss in Detroit
Ex-Deloitte partner charged with insider trading
WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal regulators on Tuesday charged a former partner at Deloitte & Touche LLP and his wife with insider trading, accusing the couple of providing confidential information on company acquisitions to relatives overseas. The Securities and Exchange Commission announced the civil charges against Arnold McClellan and his wife, Annabel, who live in San Francisco.The SEC alleged in a lawsuit that the McClellans gave advance notice of at least seven acquisitions planned by the accounting firm’s clients to Annabel’s sister and brother-in-law in London.

WASHINGTON (AP) — If Congress lets unemployment benefits expire this week for the long-term unemployed, they won’t be the only ones to feel the pain. The overall economy would suffer, too. Unemployment benefits help drive the economy because the jobless tend to spend every dollar they get, pumping cash into businesses.
Pat Burns’ widow’s car broken into after funeral
MONTREAL (AP) — Someone broke into the car of Pat Burns’ widow within hours of his funeral, Montreal police said Tuesday. Police said the thieves would have known whose belongings they were stealing when they ransacked Line Burns’ car, taking about 30 autographed hockey sweaters from Burns’ personal collection.
Shaq eager to watch LeBron’s return
CLEVELAND (AP) — Like most NBA fans, Shaquille O’Neal plans to watch LeBron James’ return to Cleveland on Thursday night. O’Neal wants to see James do his “powder thing.” As part of his pregame ritual, James fills his hands with a white resin to better grip the ball. Then he tosses it in the air.
