Stuffed lasagna, crispy onion rings, creamy pesto pasta—you probably know vegan chef Isa Chandra Moskowitz as co-host of The Post Punk Kitchen and creator of vegan eats that don’t taste like they are vegan at all.
“This is not your mother’s low-fat cookbook,” she says. “Skimpy portions need not apply.”
Appetite for Reduction contains 125 delectable, nutritionally-balanced recipes for the foods you crave—lasagna, tacos, barbecue, curries, stews, and much more—and it’s all only 200 to 400 calories per serving, plant-based and packed with nutrients, low in saturated fat and sugar; high in fiber and, well, delicious.

You’ll also find lots of gluten-free and soy-free options. All of the recipes were designed by Moskowitz—author of Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World, Veganomicon and Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar—with the busy week night chef in mind.
Many of the recipes come together in 30 minutes, and the ones that don’t will give you plenty of downtime, so “while your dinner is busy cooking away, you’re off finishing your novel, doing your nails or whatever it is you do in your spare time. A little light carpentry, perhaps?”
