Aretha Franklin was honored at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards with an opening performance by Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride, Yolanda Adams and Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine.

The tribute to the Queen of Soul began with a montage of Franklin’s Grammy performances and wins over the years.

Franklin was recently diagnosed with cancer and could not attend this year’s show, but she did appear on a video where she said, “I wish I could have been with you all tonight, but since I couldn’t, next year.”
Franklin then thanked everyone who sent her gifts and She also thanked everyone who sent her gifts, including Clive Davis.
