Wells Fargo settles complaints of deaf customers

WASHINGTON (AP) — Wells Fargo & Co. has reached an agreement with the government to pay up to $16 million to settle complaints from customers who are deaf, hard of hearing or had speech defects. The settlement involving Wells Fargo’s nearly 10,000 retail banking, brokerage and mortgage stores is designed to ensure equal access under the Americans with Disabilities Act



Twitter offers new button for attracting followers

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Twitter is trying to make it quicker and easier to track the world’s most interesting people on its short-messaging service. The new short cut is being provided by a Twitter “follow” button that can be placed on websites to highlight celebrities, athletes, reporters and other people who tweet their thoughts and share other information.



Musical based on novel ‘Carrie’ returns from dead

NEW YORK (AP) — The story of “Carrie,” that weird high school girl who exacts revenge on bullies with her telekinetic powers, is coming back to a New York stage. MCC Theater said Tuesday that it will remount the musical based on the 1974 Stephen King novel in January. It will be the first time the show has been professionally produced since its 1988 Broadway flop.



DC Comics to relaunch most titles at No. 1

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — DC Comics is going back to the starting point in September, renumbering its entire lineup of DC Universe titles with No. 1 and retooling nearly all of its major characters, including Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman.



Chile’s communists want Neruda’s death probed

SANTIAGO, CHILE (AP) — Chile’s Communist Party wants a formal investigation into the death of the country’s revered poet Pablo Neruda, who officially died of cancer only days after the 1973 coup toppled his close friend, President Salvador Allende.
