Whether or not actor Ryan Phillippe is the dad of fellow actress Alexis Knapp’s child is still a mystery, despite the actors presence at the birth of newborn Kai on Friday according to People.
TMZ recently spotted the ex-couple spending time together in Los Angeles on Tuesday getting coffee and attending a routine appointment to Knapp’s obstetricians office.
Knapp, 21, broke the news in March that she was pregnant and reportedly told her friends that 36-year-old Phillippe was the father, according to ABC News. The pair were not together at the time of her announcement.
Knapp’s representative told US Weekly in March that she planned on keeping quiet about the child saying, “Alexis has maintained her silence and will continue to do so. She continues to appreciate the love and support of her family and friends.”
TMZ claimed that he planned to take a DNA test to prove whether or not the child was biologically his once the child was born. This apparently upset Knapp who hired lawyer, Mark Vicent after she wasn’t certain the actor would support the child.
Yet, Knapp’s rep told ABC News that she is not looking for financial assistance from him. “She has never asked Ryan for any help, nor does she expect it.”
A close source to Knapp recently confirmed to E! Online that Phillippe was no longer planning on taking a DNA test because he was sure that he is the father of the newborn. “Ryan has always known that he is the father and will not be taking a paternity test,” said the source.
This is the first child for Knapp. Phillippe has two children Ava, 11 and Deacon, 7 with Oscar winning actress, Reese Witherspoon. The couple were married for seven years before divorcing in 2006. Witherspoon recently married Hollywood talent agent, Jim Toth in March.
Phillipe started dating Knapp after the end of his three year relationship from “Sucker Punch” actress Abbie Cornish in 2010. He was linked to “Red Riding Hood” actress Amanda Seyfried earlier this year, but the couple parted ways after news of the pregnancy was released.
Knapp has had small roles in the 2007 film “Couples Retreat” and the 2010 family film, “Percy Jackson & The Lightening Thief”.
E! Online reported that there was no comment from Phillippe’s camp about the child.
