Sarah Palin’s “One Nation Tour” took her to Boston where many of the original Tea Party Patriots were born.
During her tour of the Freedom Trail in Boston she finally visited the old North Church on Friday and spoke to reporters about Paul Revere—you know, the guy who warned patriots, “The British are coming.”
Well, apparently when Palin heard the history lesson in school, she took it to mean something else.
Here’s what the former Alaskan Governor and possible GOP presidential nominee said according to a transcript from New York Magazine:
“He who warned, uh, the … the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms, uh, by ringin’ those bells and, um, by makin’ sure that as he’s ridin’ his horse through town to send those warnin’ shots and bells that, uh, we were gonna be secure and we were gonna be free … and we were gonna be armed.”
It didn’t quite happen like that.
During his famous “Midnight Ride” Revere was riding to Lexington to warn Sam Adams and John Hancock that the British were headed their way. “The British are coming,” he explained.
