Nearly a dozen people were arrested just after midnight on Saturday after a disturbance outside the emergency room of the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, Nassau County Police said.
Officers from the third precinct were assigned to the hospital for a “large disorderly crowd,” that attempted to enter the emergency room and were aggressive towards the hospital staff, police said.
According to police, officers were threatened after asking the crowd to disperse, and when they tried to arrest 21-year-old, Kadeen McDonald, he refused to be handcuffed by police and struck an officer, police said. The officer was treated for a fractured hand, and was released. McDonald was eventually placed into custody, police said.
