Freeport Man Accused of Impersonating Soldier at Airport

Police say a Freeport man pretended to be a soldier so he could get into first class on a flight to Kennedy International Airport on Friday from the Dominican Republic.

Port Authority police arrested 22-year-old Rock Diaz of Freeport on charges of second-degree impersonation after his flight landed at JFK.

The New York Post reports that a customs official asked Diaz his rank and he gave an answer that didn’t match the insignia on the camouflage fatigues he was wearing.

The paper says Diaz claimed he did nothing wrong and blamed the confusion on a language barrier.
