A Stony Brook University student and her mother have garnered a rally of support while they’re fighting deportation to their native Bangladesh.
Nadia and Hazmin Habib are scheduled for deportation Thursday. A rally is being held outside Federal Plaza in Manhattan. Members of Congress are among those opposing the move.
The Habibs are attending a hearing with hopes for a last-minute reprieve.

Sen. Kirstin Gillibrand (D-NY) and Reps. Tim Bishop (D-Southampton) and Joseph Crowley (D-Queens) are involved in the case.
Nadia, who’s 19, is reportedly trying to reopen a 2000 appeal.
They emigrated to the United States in 1993 when she was still an infant.
Nadia’s father, who has a Green Card, told WCBS that bad immigration lawyers failed to get proper documentation for his wife and daughter.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Luis Martinez said Thursday that the agency can’t discuss the case without a privacy waiver.
