Teen Bicyclist Struck in Hempstead Hit-and-run


A 16-year-old boy was struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding his bicycle in Hempstead on Tuesday evening, Nassau County police said.

The victim was riding a bicycle southbound on Clinton Street while trying to cross near the corner of Yale Street when he was struck at 7:20 p.m., police said. The driver fled the scene without stopping, police said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The vehicle was described as a gold or tan 4-door sedan that was last seen fleeing eastbound on Jackson Avenue.

The driver was described as a light-skinned 20-year-old black man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Homicide Squad detectives ask anyone with information regarding this crime to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
