Picture 24The highly-anticipated “Game Of Thrones” Season 2 trailer was just released this week giving fans a little dose of the coming 2012 season.

The new season hits television screens in April but HBO decided to release the first trailer for the second season of the hit show as an early holiday present.

Brother of the late Robert Baratheon, who died last season in a hunting accident, Stannis Baratheon, narrates the trailer.

The trailer takes viewers through scenes that show Arya, Tyrion, Jon Snow, and newly seated Joffrey (the offspring of Queen Cersei and her brother).

“My brother left no true-born heirs by right of birth and blood,” Stannis says. “I do this day lay claim to the island throne of Westeros that all true men declare their loyalty. The iron throne is mine by right.”

“They will bend the knee or I will destroy them,” he adds.

Back in September, “Game of Thrones” fans got a glimpse into Season 2 when HBO released a sneak peak during “Boardwalk Empire.”

The sneak peak only featured spoken dialogue and an image of a ring of fire. ”The night is dark and full of terrors,” says the narrator in the sneak peak.

The hit HBO show is based on the George R.R. Martin book series, “A Song of Ice and Fire.”

Readers may have an idea what’s coming in Season 2 from reading “A Clash of Kings,” but for those who haven’t, the actors and producers of the show offered up clues during Comic-Con.

“For the second season, we’ve got a bunch of great new characters coming in. We’ve got such an incredible cast, but it’s time to meet the Red Priestess, and see those dragons and wolves start to grow up,” Executive Producer, David Benioff reportedly said,“there’s bad stuff lurking north of the Wall. It’s a season of exploration.”
