A Huntington Station man has been accused of falsely reporting that he was robbed of his backpack containing prescription medication on Wednesday afternoon.

Suffolk County police arrested Anthony Cole and charged him with falsely reporting an incident.

Police said the 22-year-old man called 911 to report that he had been robbed of his backpack by a man who fled the scene on a BMX bicycle on Union Avenue in Holbrook at 1 p.m.

Officer quickly learned that “Cole had not been robbed and he had fabricated the story so he could obtain a police report for stolen medication,” police said in a statement.

He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip a later date.
