Cops: Freeport Man Held Girlfriend Against Her Will

A 20-year-old man has been accused of dragging his girlfriend out of workplace and holding against her will following an argument in Westbury on Tuesday evening.

Nassau County police arrested Jose Mejia of Freeport and charged him with unlawful imprisonment and petit larceny.

Police said Mejia showed up at the victim’s job in an office building on Post Avenue, grabbed her by the arm, pulled her outside and pushed her into his car shortly after 5 p.m.

He fled the scene in the vehicle, with the victim in the backseat, after he and the victim argued earlier over him taking her cell phone, police said.

Witnesses called 911 and officers stopped Mejia’s vehicle shortly later. The victim was not injured.

Mejia will be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
