A man was hospitalized after he experienced symptoms of a heart attack while eating a Triple Bypass Burger at the Heart Attack Grill in downtown Las Vegas on Saturday.
The owner, “Doctor” Jon Basso, told Fox 5 Las Vegas that he thought the waitress was joking when she told him that the man in his 40s was having chest pains, sweating and shaking.

Basso called 911, and paramedics soon arrived to wheel the man out on a stretcher. Amateur video caught the incident, most likely taken by people who assumed it was a stunt.
“I actually felt horrible for the gentleman because the tourists were taking photos of him as if it were some type of stunt,” Basso said. “Even with our own morbid sense of humor, we would never pull a stunt like that.”
According to the Basso the patient is alive and recuperating.
Aside for Bypass Burgers (the “quadruple bypass burger” can contain over 8,000 calories), the restaurant serves Flatliner Fries, Butterfat Milkshakes and gives free meals to anyone over 350 pounds. It refers to all of its waitresses as “nurses” and diners are given hospital gowns and referred to as “patients.”
A sign on the door reads, “Caution! This establishment is bad for your health.”
While Basso said that there has been a “variety of incidents” in the past, this is the first time someone had an apparent heart attack in the eatery.
