Coram Man, 60, Killed Crossing Street


A 60-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a car while crossing a road near his Coram home Wednesday evening.

Suffolk County police said the man, whose identity was not immediately released, was struck in the middle of Route 25 by a westbound Ford Taurus near the corner of Homestead Drive at 6:45 p.m.

The victim was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was admitted in critical condition before he died.

The driver, 34-year-old Christina Grigg of Coram, was not injured or charged. The Taurus was impounded for a safety check.

Sixth Squad detectives ask anyone with information about this crash is asked to call them at 631-854-8652.
