A 47-year-old man has been accused of sexually abusing a young girl in his hometown of Shelter Island.

Southampton Town Police said Jeffrey Starzee was arrested Friday and charged with third-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police only identified the victim was younger than 17 years old.

A Southampton Town Court Justice set bail for Starzee at $1,250, which he posted.

The judge also issued an order of protection for Starzee to stay away from the victim.
