A 49-year-old man was killed when he crashed his car in his hometown of Patchogue on Sunday night.

Suffolk County police said Kelly Charles was driving a Nissan Altima southbound on Waverly Avenue when his vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree near West 2nd Street at 10:18 p.m.

Charles was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.

Fifth Squad detectives impounded the car, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information about the crash to contact them at 631-854-8552.
