Roosevelt Woman DWI in Crash That Killed Man, Cops Say

A Roosevelt woman has been arrested for allegedly driving drunk and crashing her car into another vehicle in Queens, killing her passenger, a 29-year-old Freeport man, New York City police said.

Sharlene Numa was driving an Infinity eastbound on the Belt Parkway when she rear-ended a Mercedes at the curve in the parkway where it meets South Conduit Avenue in Rosedale at 4:15 a.m. Monday, police said.

The 28-year-old suspect’s sedan flipped. Numa and her passenger, Kendall Heard, were taken to Jamaica Hospital, where Heard was pronounced dead and Numa was listed in stable condition.

The 18-year-old man driving the Mercedes was taken to Franklin General Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Numa was charged with vehicular manslaughter, manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.

Arraignment information for her was not immediately available.
