A 29-year-old Florida man was struck and killed by an alleged drunken driver in the suspect’s hometown of Southampton on Friday night, Southampton Town Police said.

Jesse Werner Steudte, 21, was driving his Jeep eastbound on County Road 39 when his SUV hit Neil Fyfe, who was riding his bicycle in the crosswalk at 6:30 p.m., police said.

Fyfe was taken to Southampton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly later. Steudte was treated at the scene for minor injuries and charged with driving while intoxicated.

Southampton Town Detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who may have information about the crash to contact them at 631-702-2230.
