Selden Man Sentenced for Fatal Drugged-driving Crash

A Selden man was sentenced Wednesday to 3 to 9 years in prison for driving while high on drugs when he caused a crash that killed one and injured four others in Bohemia last fall.

Paul Porrini pleaded guilty last month at Suffolk County court to manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, driving while impaired by drugs and passing a red light.

Authorities said the 55-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet Express van westbound Veterans Memorial Highway when he blew a red light and crashed into four vehicles, including a motorcycle ridden by 44-year-old Christopher White of Medford, in September 2013.

White was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he died. The four other victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
