Riverhead town police are investigating an armed home invasion in which a masked man with a knife confronted a victim inside their Riverhead home on Wednesday night, authorities said.

The assailant forced his way into the victim’s home at the Fairfield Apartments on Roanoke Avenue, brandished a knife and then grabbed a cell phone out of the victim’s hands as they were calling 911 shortly after 10 p.m., police said.

The suspect then fled the scene. He was described as wearing a dark-colored mask, gloves and dark clothing.

Riverhead police detectives ask anyone with information on this case to call them at 631-727-4500 ext. 327. All calls will be kept confidential.
