A woman who was allegedly caught on camera throwing a dog from her car and driving off in her hometown of Mastic last month has been arrested, Suffolk County SPCA officials said.

Josephine Rivera, 46, was charged this week with misdemeanor abandonment.

SPCA investigators credited the $2,000 reward offered for tips in the case as leading to Rivera’s arrest.

Investigators had said that Rivera threw the Toy Poodle from her car at Exxon Gas Station on Montauk Highway on June 23. The dog ran toward the car and tried to get in as the suspect drove off, authorities added.

She will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.
