2 Stabbed During String of Lake Ronkonkoma Robberies, Cops Say

A 23-year-old Yaphank man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stabbing two men during a string of armed robberies at a Lake Ronkonkoma shopping center in late June, Suffolk County police said.

Jed Stout was charged with robbery, two counts of attempted robbery and two counts of assault for the alleged armed robberies that occurred between June 24 and June 29 at the same shopping center on Portion Road. Police said in all three incidents, Stout allegedly threatened to stab his victims if they refused his demands.

On June 24, Stout targeted a 43-year-old man who was leaving a Wells Fargo ATM and allegedly threatened to cut the man if he refused to give him money, police said. The man gave up his wallet and was not injured.

Four days later, Stout visited the same ATM, police said, and allegedly stabbed a 64-year-old man in the arm after he refused to hand over money. One day later, a 75-year-old man taking out the garbage in the parking lot of the shopping center was approached by Stout, who allegedly slashed the man in his face after he said he did not have money, police said.

An investigation by Sixth Squad detectives led police to Stout. He was arrested Wednesday, a little more than two months after the alleged incidents occurred.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip.
