Long Island Halloween Haunted Houses 2014

Halloween is right around the corner and that means haunted houses full of ghosts, goblins and ghouls are creeping up across Long Island for a howling good time over the next month.

The spooky events range from kid-friendly festivities for the whole family to the type of dark, twisted fright fests that scare the pants off supposedly grown adults—and plenty that fall in between.

From local fire department fundraiser haunts to hardcore horror movie recreations—and even some loosely related events sprinkled throughout—here are more than three dozen Long Island haunted house event listings:

Bayville Scream Park

Zombieworld

Haunted House Long Island
Walk through the grave yard to see ghouls and goblins, pass the butcher room and see bloody corpses hanging but make sure you don’t run into our live monsters lurking behind every corner. Dark Side Haunted House

New York Zombie Apocalypse

Haunted Playhouse
When they’re not performing in plays and musicals, the actors at this community theater are convincingly turning their venue into “Hellport.” Gateway Playhouse, 215 South Country Rd., Bellport. pacsc.org $15. Days and times vary, through Nov. 1.

Haunted Mansion of Melville
For the past 20 years, this particularly disturbing haunted house stars a creepy doctor. For a separate $11 fee, visitors can try to find their way through a haunted nighttime corn maze and for $5 more, they can volunteer to be “test subjects” for the doctor’s creepy experiments. Otto the Ghost
Take the kids on a hayride down a decorated trail, visit farm animals and hear the latest family friendly animated adventures of Otto the Ghost. Fresh-picked apples, apple cider and candied apples available, plus roasted corn and popcorn on weekends. Join the annual pumpkin-carving contest while you’re at it! Haunted Tunnel

Chamber of Horrors
A dark collection of spooky mazes and rooms full of ghouls that proudly proclaim this haunted house is “where fear lives.” Those 18 and older can join in “Dead of Night,” an especially horrid event in the two days after Halloween. Dr. DeKay’s House of Horrors

Nights of Fright

Scarecrow Competition

The Village: Haunted Tales and Trials
Ten terrifying nights of Halloween in October including carnival games, pirate maze, laser tag, corn maze, bonfire, pumpkins, the Haunted House Tour and much more! Fright Night

Nyctophobia Haunted House

Rise of The Jack O’Lanterns

Hoyt Farm Monster Mash

Enchanted Forest Trail

Haunted Trail Nights

Spooky Walk
Ghosts, ghouls, goblins, swamp monsters and many of their gruesome friends bring a smoggy, spine-tingling walk through the realm of fear and fright. Clark Botanic Garden, 193 I.U. Spooky Scavenger Hunt
Search the preserve for spooky items on our scavenger hunt list.  You can even wear your Halloween costumes – just make sure you can walk safely.  Tons of Fun! Haunted House at Deepwells

Great Jack-o’-Lantern Spectacular
In addition to contestants setting sail to their Jack-o’-Lanterns, there will be a kid-friendly spooky house, balloon twisting, arts and crafts, trick or treating, “funny fotos,” games and more.  Participation limited to the first 50 carved pumpkins. Jack-o’-Lanterns will set sail at 6 p.m. Participating pumpkins must be between the size of a soccer ball and a basketball and must be dropped off between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on the day of the event. Nature’s Halloween Trail

Ghost Stories and Legends of Fire Island

Halloween Parade

Haunted Mansion

The Franklin Square Horror

Masquerade for the Macabre Halloween Ball
