Islip Man Gunned Down in North Carolina

A 32-year-old Islip man was reportedly gunned down in North Carolina, where authorities arrested two men over the weekend for allegedly shooting him during a robbery on Thursday.

Carlos Jacob Engle, 32, and 19-year-old Deshavonte Kemp were each charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon, WRAL reported.

Engle and his alleged co-conspirator allegedly pretended to help Mark Boyd find a cheap hotel room when they robbed him of his cycling and camping equipment before shooting him to death in Fayetteville, a city about 65 miles south of Raleigh, the capital of the Tar Heel State, according to The Fayetteville Observer.

The pair is being held at Cumberland County jail without bail, news outlets there reported.

Wake services for Boyd will be held 2-4:30 p.m. and 7-9:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fredrick J Chapey & Sons Funeral Home on East Main Street in East Islip. His funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Bay Shore.
