Cops: Brentwood Drunken Driving Crash Victim Identified

The passenger killed in a one-car crash early Saturday morning in Brentwood was identified as 29-year-old David Gonzalez, Suffolk County police said.

The driver, 27-year-old Oscar Rivera of Selden, was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated, police said. He was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for serious injuries, police said.

Rivera was driving a 2000 Lincoln southbound on Grand Boulevard just before 6 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a tree after crossing over Noble Street, police said.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at Southside Hospital, police said.

Rivera’s arraignment is scheduled for a later date.

The Lincoln was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing, police said. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-854-6555.
