Cops: Trio Charged in String of Bank Robberies

A trio of alleged bank robbers were charged Friday with a string of robberies that occurred over the past eight days, Suffolk County police said.

Investigators made the connection after the group—40-year-old Robert Oliver of Mt. Sinai, and two Selden women, 36-year-old Patricia Oliver and 25-year-old Alysa Moran—were arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly robbing a Kings Park Bank of America on Johnland Road, police said.

Robert Oliver, who police said is divorced from Patricia, allegedly demanded cash from a teller, who complied, and then fled the bank. He joined Patricia and Moran in an awaiting vehicle, but the trio was eventually stopped in Smithtown by police after witnesses followed the vehicle and called 911, police said.

Following their arrest, Pattern Crime Unit detectives linked them to two other alleged robberies: a Chase bank in Setauket on Oct. 2 and a Capitol One in Nesconset on Oct. 7, police said.

They were all charged with third-degree robbery. They are scheduled to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Police said the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on these incidents to call the Pattern Crime Unit at 631-852-6726.
