A hit-and-run commercial truck driver wanted for critically wounding a 43-year-old man bicyclist in Holbrook two weeks ago has been apprehended, Suffolk County police said.

John Farina, 50, of Ronkonkoma, was arrested and charged Friday with leaving the scene of an incident without reporting involving serious physical injury.

Vehicular Crime Unit detectives alleged the suspect was driving a Hino box truck on Veterans Memorial Highway when he struck Bradley J. Samuel shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6.

Police had found part of a side view mirror at the scene. They used that evidenve and surveillance camera footage to identify the make and model of the vehicle, which they released to the public.

Samuel was treated at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Farina will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
