Islip Terrace Dog Shot Dead, $2K Reward Offered

Authorities are searching for the shooter that killed a dog with a pellet gun in Islip Terrace last weekend.

The owner of a male Pit Bull named Jax reported finding the dog with blood coming out of its mouth in the backyard of their home on Saturday, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.

The dog was brought to Grady Animal Hospital in Sayville, where a necropsy was performed. The dog was determined to be killed by a pellet shot to the chest, the agency said.

The Suffolk SPCA is offering a $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
