3 Dead, 1 Injured in Wyandanch Shooting, Cops Say

Suffolk County police Homicide Squad detectives are searching for a shooter who killed three people inside a parked car in Wyandanch late Wednesday night and injured a fourth victim.

Police identified the three victims Thursday afternoon as 25-year-old William Madrey of Wyandanch, 23-year-old Stephanie Almedina Rivera of Bay Shore, and 23-year-old Ciara Smith of Deer Park. A fourth female injured in the shooting was not identified.

Bullets rang out on Davidson Street just before midnight, police said. The suspect, who is still at large and hasn’t been identified, walked up to a vehicle and fired several shots, killing all but one of the car’s occupants, police said.

First Precinct officers responding to 911 calls reporting gunshots arrived at the scene at around 11:50 p.m. and discovered the victims inside the vehicle. Madrey, Rivera, and Smith were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The surviving victim suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, police said.

Madley “is a previously self-admitted gang member,” police said in a news release.

Investigators are trying to determine whether gang affiliation played a role in the slayings.

Police are asking anyone with information about the homicides to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. Crime Stoppers is offering a $3,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the shooter.
