Roosevelt Armed Home Invasion Suspect Arrested

One of two suspected gunmen has been arrested for an alleged Roosevelt home invasion last year, Nassau County police said.

Selvin Esquivel, 33, of Uniondale, was charged with robbery, burglary, unlawful imprisonment and endangered welfare of a child.

Police said a 24-year-old woman was upstairs in her Underhill Avenue home when she heard a noise on the first floor, went downstairs to investigate and was confronted by Esquivel and a second suspect, both of whom were allegedly armed with black handguns on Aug. 20, 2014.

The assailants forced the victim upstairs into a bedroom and ransacked the home before they fled the scene with a cell phone, jewelry and cash, police said.

Major Case Squad detectives found the suspect at Nassau County jail, where he is incarcerated on unrelated charges. He will be arraigned on the new charges at First District Court in Hempstead.
