A Florida woman was arrested for allegedly driving drunk, hitting a 22-year-old bicyclist with her vehicle and fleeing the scene in Carle Place early Thursday morning, Nassau County police said.
Melissa McKiski was charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a fatality.
Homicide Squad detectives alleged that the 22-year-old suspect was driving westbound on Old Country Road when she hit an eastbound bicyclist and fled the scene at 12:36 a.m. Thursday.
The victim, Charles Velasquez, of Queens, was taken to Winthrop University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead four hours later.
McKiski will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
