Nassau County Republican Chairman
Mondello has seen his influence wax and wane in his nearly 30 years as leader of the Nassau GOP, but these days he has shown he is still very much in charge. He served three years as chair of the New York State Republican Committee until 2009, when he was replaced at the state level and Republicans recaptured the county’s legislative majority and all but one countywide title. Now Mondello is poised to further cement that power as Republican lawmakers prepare to redraw county legislative district boundaries.
