Alure Home Improvements President
Ferro has a tremendous wingspan. His lifelong dedication to the craft of home remodeling has paid off with the creation of the largest home remodeling company on Long Island, Alure Home Improvements. But it is his larger-than-life dedication to the Long Island community that has firmly established his place on the Power List Hall of Fame. Like many large companies, Alure Home Improvements supports numerous local charities but few match the fervor and commitment exhibited by the staff of Alure under the guidance of their CEO, Sal Ferro. It’s fitting that Ferro’s induction occurs on the heels of Alure’s participation in ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for the eighth time. When ABC’s executives asked Ferro and his team to once again help a family in need, Ferro insisted that the family be from Long Island. His insistence resulted in one of the most heartwarming Extreme Makeover: Home Edition broadcasts to date as the world watched Ferro and company construct a new home in East Setauket for the Lutz family. When Grace and John Lutz, a loving couple who shared their home with 18 adopted children, including seven with Down Syndrome, passed away, their daughter Kathleen gave up her career to care for her siblings. Kathleen was later diagnosed with inoperable cancer, and her brother John Jr. also sacrificed his career to move back home. But while these strong family ties were enough to keep the Lutz family together, the deteriorating condition of their home made minor repairs no longer an option, and that’s where Ferro came in. In everything he does, Ferro puts Long Islanders, his employees and those in need first. It is the core mission of Alure Home Improvements and likely the key to Sal Ferro’s success.
