Blue Point Brewing Co. plans to build a new, larger brewery that it expects will open early next year at the downtown Patchogue campus of Briarcliffe College, which is closing, officials said.
The Best of Brooklyn Festival is taking place Saturday, January 28 indoors at Industry City from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. with tickets starting at just $29. Many of the top microbreweries on LI and throughout the five boroughs will be on hand the weekend of Oct. 15 and 16 in Long Island City for the inaugural Queens Beer Festival. Attendees will have an opportunity to taste a wide selection of hand-crafted beers from breweries in Queens, along with a curated selection of brews from Long Island, Brooklyn, The Bronx and Staten Island.
In February, the company moved around the corner to a new home on Audrey Avenue that is five times the size of its cramped quarters on South Street. Instead of cramming a tasting area and brewery equipment into 1,400 square feet, the company now has 6,000 square feet to play with.
Town officials said the proposed facility would house a 4,000 square-foot tasting room where artisan beer lovers could sample brews concocted by microbrewers that would serve as tenants. The beers would be made in the facility using on-site equipment essential to the beer-making process, like fomenters.
