Public buses to and from Jones Beach State park are scheduled to begin rolling again on Memorial Day weekend—the latest sign that the beaches will be ready for summer after Sandy.

The Nassau Inter-County Express, better known as NICE Bus, will bring back the half-hourly N88 from Freeport and hourly N87 from Hicksville for the summer, starting Saturday, May 25, the agency announced last week.

Both bus lines start at the Long Island Rail Road stations in their respective towns of origin. The LIRR is offering package fares for those taking the train to the bus to the beach—$18.50 from Penn Station or Brooklyn and $15.25 from Jamaica.

The buses stop at Jones Beach’s two bathhouses and Central Mall. They will only run on weekends until June 24, when the daily service starts through Labor Day.

The N88 will also run after concerts at the Nikon Jones Beach Theater.

The cash one-way fare is $2.25 and the Metro Card fare is $2.50.

The trigger man gunned the victim down during a drug deal in an abandoned home.

A Queens man has been convicted of gunning down a 23-year-old man he and another man were robbing at a Freeport abandoned home during a drug deal two years ago.

A Nassau County jury found Jerod Plowden guilty Friday of second-degree murder and robbery. He was acquitted of first degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon charges.

Prosecutors said the 25-year-old St. Albans man and Nolan Gaugler, 21, of Mineola, met with the victim, Moez Hassan of Queens, on Stevens Street under the guise of buying Xanax pills from him on April 12, 2011.

But, Plowden and Gaugler robbed the victim of 75 Xanax pills and $30 at gunpoint before the drug deal went down.

Hassan was then shot five times—once in the head, chest, and left arm, and twice in the abdomen.

Police caught Gaugler within minutes several blocks from the scene. He was found to be in possession of the stolen drugs and cash. He pleaded guilty to robbery in a plea deal in which he’s facing 16 years in prison.

Plowden was apprehended 16 days later in Suffolk County during a routine traffic stop.

He faces up to 25 years to life in prison when he is sentenced June 6.

Princesses: Long Island is set to debut June 2 on Bravo.

Move over Snooki & JWOWW, a new reality series is about to debut following the antics of a half dozen Long Island socialites living with their parents while partying it up in New York City and the Hamptons.

The new docu-series called Princesses: Long Island, which premieres on Bravo in six weeks, follows the college-educated young women who live pampered lifestyles off the comfort of their parent’s bank accounts. It offers a window into their family dynamics and personal lives filled with labels, luxury and love trials.

“These Princesses Know What They Want,” is the tag line for the new show.

The show looks like a mix of MTV’s Jersey Shore and Bravo’s other hit series, The Real Housewives, with all the drama, drunkenness and stereotyping.

Whether it will do better than the short-lived Growing Up Gold Coast reality show that debuted last fall on Lifetime remains to be seen.

The women making up the cast include two Great Neck natives: Amanda Bertoncini, a businesswoman who lives with her mother, and Chanel “Coco” Omari, a blogger and aspiring talk-show host who always knows where the hottest parties are.

Like Omari, Casey Cohen of Jericho lives part time in New York City to feed her passion for art, education and giving back.

Hailing from Old Westbury is Erica Gimbe, who works in event planning and public relations and loves following all things fashion and entertainment.

And rounding out the majority of the Gold Coast natives on the cast is Ashlee White of Roslyn, who has difficulty finding a man because of her high standards but doesn’t have any plans to settle down or move out of her parent’s house.

The lone South Shore princess is Joey Lauren, who lives with her family in Freeport but does not enjoy being financially dependent and would prefer to be on her own.

Princesses: Long Island premieres on Bravo at 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 2. See the trailer for the series premier below:

A Hempstead man was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years to life in prison for killing a Roosevelt man in a drunken-driving crash while fleeing a Freeport shooting two years ago.

Lloyd Williams had been convicted in September at Nassau County court of second-degree murder, manslaughter vehicular manslaughter, assault, vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated and unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

Prosecutors said the 29-year-old and a friend got into a fight with bouncers at Phase Bar in after Williams was thrown out when a shot was fired and a nearby Freeport village police officer responded in the early morning hours of June 18, 2011.

Williams and his friend fled in Williams’ Mitsubishi. Williams blew eight stop signs and six red lights while officers gave chase until he crashed with a Dodge Intrepid at the corner of Guy Lombardo Avenue.

The other driver, 24-year-old Chad Whethers, was killed instantly and his vehicle was cut in half.

Williams’ blood-alcohol content was found to be 0.27 percent and he had marijuana in his system.

The man who admitted faking his own death last summer allegedly pretended to be a cop last week, police said.

Raymond Roth

The man who admitted last week to faking his own death was rearrested Wednesday on suspicion of pretending to be law enforcement while trying to lure a woman into his van, Nassau County police said.

Raymond Roth was charged with criminal impersonation, attempted kidnapping and attempted burglary. He will be arraigned on the new counts Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.

“We received numerous tips through our Crime Stoppers line naming Mr. Roth as a subject and our investigation took off from there,” Det. Lt. Robert Galgano of the First Squad said, referring to surveillance video of the suspect being aired on News12 Long Island.

Police said the 48-year-old Long Beach resident had asked a 38-year-old woman to get in his van in Freeport, told her he was a cop when she ignored him and then followed her into a check cashing store. He reiterated to workers there that he was a cop and told them to let him into their back room, where she was hiding from him, police have said.

That was hours after Roth pleaded guilty at Nassau County court to fourth-degree conspiracy, a felony, in a plea deal with prosecutors. He’s suspected of trying to lure two other women as well, police said.

Roth was expected to be sentenced in May to 90 days in jail and repay authorities $36,000 for the time and resources wasted searching for him last summer.

Roth’s son, Jonathan, had reported Raymond missing from Jones beach in July, when he told police that his father was swimming when he disappeared. Raymond later was found to be in Florida, alive, and eventually turned himself into police.

Raymond had told the judge he’s taking medication for bipolar disorder and has attempted suicide. He was expected to face up to 15 years in prison if he had been convicted at trial of insurance fraud.

Jonathan also pleaded guilty to conspiracy and filing a false report last week.

Nassau County police are looking for a man who claimed to be a police officer when he tried to get a woman into his vehicle and then followed her into a Freeport store.

The 38-year-old victim was walking at the corner of Church and Main streets when a man driving a minivan repeatedly yelled at her to get in and then threatened to arrest her, claiming to be a police officer, when she ignored him and kept walking at 8 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The victim ran into PLS Check Cashing on East Sunrise Highway but the suspect followed her in and demanded the employees open the security door—again identifying him as a police officer, authorities said.

The employees called 911 and the suspect fled the scene in his white minivan with a brown lower panel, police said.

He was described as a 6-foot-tall white man in his mid-40s with a medium build and dirty blond hair who was wearing a black trench coat.

First Squad detectives ask anyone with information about this case to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

John Omard (Nassau County Police Department)

The principal of Freeport’s J.W. Dodd Middle School was accused Wednesday of having sex with a teenage boy who was once enrolled at the school.

Nassau County police arrested John O’Mard at his Freeport home and charged him with four counts of third-degree criminal sexual act. Bail was set at $10,000 bond and $5,000 cash at his arraignment.

Investigators said the principal engaged in “sexual acts” with the then-16-year-old victim after they met through Grindr, a smartphone dating application for men. The two used the app to chat and discuss where they would meet, Det. Sgt. Carlo Maltempi of the Special Victims Squad, said at a press conference.

O’Mard picked up the teenager at the meeting spot and then allegedly drove him to his Freeport house where the sexual act occurred, police said.

There was “no force,” Maltempi said, adding that “there were other factors” that led to the sexual encounter. He didn’t elaborate.

Though the alleged incident occurred in September 2012, it wasn’t until Friday that police began their investigation. One of the teenager’s friends heard of the encounter and alerted Freeport school officials last week, Maltempi said.

Investigators said O’Mard served as the middle school’s principal for approximately 10 years and an educator for 15. The victim, now 17, was enrolled in the school while O’Mard was principal but it wasn’t until “shortly after they met that he realized that it was his ex-principal,” Maltempi said.

Freeport School District Superintendent Dr. Kishore Kunchman released a statement on the district’s website notifying parents that school officials are aware of the investigation. Without identifying Omard by name, Kunchman said the “individual has been administratively reassigned pending the outcome of the investigation currently being conducted by law enforcement authorities.”

“The district will continue to cooperate with law enforcement during their investigation,” Kunchman added. “As this is a personnel matter, the district is legally prohibited from discussing any specifics regarding this individual and the police investigation.”

Former Assistant Principal Robert Micucci, who had been with the district for 36 years before retiring in 2011, will take over in the interim, the district said.

O’Mard’s attorney couldn’t be reached for comment. He is due back in court March 25.

Nassau police asked that anyone who feels they may have been a victim call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.

The principal of Freeport’s J.W. Dodd Middle School is facing criminal sexual act charges after he was arrested for engaging in “sexual acts” with a male teenager, Nassau County police said.

The principal, 44-year-old John Omard, was charged with four counts of criminal sexual act and will be arraigned Wednesday in Hempstead.

The alleged incident occurred on Sept. 15, 2012 when Omard met the then-16-year-old victim through a social media website, police said. He allegedly arranged a meeting and drove the victim “back to his house and engaged in sexual acts with the victim against his will,” police said in a news release.
