A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 6 a.m. Friday through the evening.

February was the coldest month on record on Long Island.

The weather service issued a winter storm warning for both Nassau and Suffolk counties until 7 p.m. Thursday.

Snow will begin falling around 4 p.m. Sunday and could hang around until Monday morning.

“Snow covered roads and a trace of ice will [make] driving and walking hazardous."

The snow will began to fall early Saturday afternoon, forecasters said.

Forecasters are also tracking a storm that could dump up to 3 inches of snow on the Island this weekend.

“Anyone traveling later this evening should travel with caution…because we are looking at temperatures not really getting above freezing today."
