The weather service issued a winter storm warning for both Nassau and Suffolk counties until 7 p.m. Thursday.
Snow will begin falling around 4 p.m. Sunday and could hang around until Monday morning.
“Snow covered roads and a trace of ice will [make] driving and walking hazardous."
The snow will began to fall early Saturday afternoon, forecasters said.
Forecasters are also tracking a storm that could dump up to 3 inches of snow on the Island this weekend.
“Anyone traveling later this evening should travel with caution…because we are looking at temperatures not really getting above freezing today."
