June 21 marks the beginning of another eventful summer in Long Island and, as usual, there are many exciting fairs, festivals and carnivals through Labor Day from the East End to the New York City line!

11 Long Island Food Festivals in 2016

Between the East End farms, local fisheries and many creative cooks on Long Island, there are plenty more local food-filled fairs that guarantee upcoming weekends of fun, games and deliciousness. Some of the most popular local food fairs of the year haven't been scheduled yet, including the Greenlawn Pickle Festival, several apple festivals and the annual pumpkin festival. Dead Humpback Whale Found Off Westhampton

The partial remains of a dead humpback whale were found floating in the waters off Westhampton over the weekend, marine biologists said. Southampton Town Bay Constables towed the carcass, initially sighted approximately a half mile off of Fish Creek in Remsenburg, to the end of South Bay Avenue so team of biologists from the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation could examine the remains on Saturday afternoon, officials said.

Humpback Whale Found Dead in Amagansett

Marine biologists are investigating the discovery of an estimated 25-foot-long dead humpback whale found that was floating in Napeague Bay in Amagansett over the weekend, officials said. East Hampton town bay constables received the initial report on Sunday, the U.S. Coast Guard members stationed in Montauk confirmed its location off Cranberry Hole Road on Monday and experts with the nonprofit Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation responded Tuesday to take samples, officials said.
