				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>An eastbound Long Island Rail Road fatally train stuck a person on the tracks in Saint James on Monday morning.</p>
<p>The victim was hit shortly after 11 a.m. by the 10:05 a.m. train from Hicksville due in Port Jefferson at 11:10 a.m., according to the LIRR.</p>
<p>The train was cancelled and service was temporarily suspended in both directions on the Port Jefferson Branch while MTA Police investigators are on the scene.</p>
<p>The identity of the victim was not immediately available.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Second fatal accident involving garbage truck in less than a week. ]]></description>
				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A man driving in St. James was killed when his car collided with a garbage truck early Wednesday morning, Suffolk County police said.</p>
<p>According to police, the garbage truck was driving westbound on Jericho Turnpike and the man’s vehicle was traveling eastbound when they collided around 2:15 a.m.</p>
<p>The man driving eastbound, who was not identified, died at the scene, police said. The driver of the garbage truck was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.</p>
<p>Police said they do not yet know if the crash was weather related.</p>
<p>The accident resulted in all lanes being closed down, police said.</p>
<p>The investigation is ongoing, police said.</p>
<p>Just last week, a veteran of the<a href="http://www.longislandpress.com/2013/01/11/suffolk-cop-killed-in-commack-crash/" target="_blank"> Suffolk County Police Department was killed</a> when he was involved in a crash with a garbage truck in Commack.</p>
