Oyster Bay Hosts 6th Annual Health & Fitness Fair May 16

Senator Marcellino and OB Chamber Partner for Free Fun for Kids of All Ages

Once again Senator Carl L. Marcellino and the Oyster Bay Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to present the 6th Annual Health and Fitness Fair!

On Saturday, May 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (rain date of May 17), Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay will be the home to over 75 exhibitors as they demonstrate their specialties.

Oyster Bay Chamber members Sally Robilotto of Aflac Insurance and Courtney Beard of Prudential Real Estate co-chaired the entertainment committee. Ms. Robilotto said, “There will be exhibitions by the Oyster Bay High School fencing team; the award-winning Bellmore Double Dutch Jump Rope team; the DBSC Miss Terri’s Tappers will be performing; as will the Gone Dancin’ dancers. A new feature will be a ballroom dance company from Huntington that will be performing.

“The Atlantic Steamer Fire Department will be demonstrating their Jaws of Life car rescue procedure; the Oyster Bay Fire Department will be doing blood pressure screening; and the OBFD and the East Norwich Fire Department will offer ambulance tours,” said Ms. Robilotto.

Michele Browner, RN, BSN event chair said, “This year we expect an even greater turn-out with over 75 exhibitors in attendance. The day will be filled with Health & Fitness demonstrations, live entertainment, inflatable fun for kids, health screening, information on exercise, fitness and nutrition, and the Hicksville Fire Department will ‘be brining their smokehouse’ that’s exciting. Add to that refreshments, give-a-ways, raffle prizes and lots more for both children and adults.”

Ms. Browner said, “Once again, the NY Islanders will be there with their Kid Zone Inflatables and slap shot booth. Our local merchants, Inflatables by Marty and Gooseberry Grove, will provide more inflatable fun for kids – and it’s all free.”

Run for Fun and Funds

Preceding the event is the Annual Brooke Jackman Run/Walk for Literacy, beginning at 10:15 a.m. at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School. A one-quarter mile Fun Run for Future Olympians begins at 9:45 a.m. for children 10 and under. Support this important charity and then follow the action directly to the Health Fair.

New York Senator Carl Marcellino said, “Each year I look forward to both the Health Fair and the Brooke Jackman Run for Literacy.

“This is a wonderful chance for families to gain information from a wide variety of exhibitors, as well as having a lot of fun,” Senator Marcellino said. “I urge young and old to take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn about the latest tips on how to continue their healthy lifestyle.”

“Whether it’s live entertainment on the ShowMobile stage, fitness demonstrations, health screenings, refreshments, or raffle prizes that interest you, we hope you will join us at this year’s annual kick-off to a healthy summer: the 6th Annual Health & Fitness Fair!” said Health Fair Chair Michele Browner.
