Vs. Dominick’s Italian & American Deli “Marlins”
Despite the rain and a trimmed-down roster, the mighty Cardinals displayed spectacular fielding as well as patience at the plate against a very good Marlins team this evening Anthony Pitre and Christopher Delgiorno not only exhibited impressive power with four singles each, they both contributed defensively by turning spectacular double plays. Scott Schanter hit 2 singles and scored a run while Thomas Mangin hit 2 singles and made a tremendous play in the infield to end the threat of a huge Marlin rally. Ryan Cooney played solid defense by turning a double play of his own while Dylan Schmid once again flashed the leather in the outfield.

Vs. The Fundamentals Of Ball “Dodgers”
The Dodgers came out swinging in the first as Cenzo Montoni, Mathew Merolla, Jordan Seidenberg, & Paul Depaulis hit ropes to score early runs. The scoring continued with timely hits and excellent base-running by Joseph Muratore, Andrew Ha, Mathew Strocchia, Christian Goustas, Kevin Walsh, Ryan Gonzalez, and Christian Zamora. The game was on the line in the bottom of the 5th and great attempts in the field by Mathew Merolla, Cenzo Montoni, Paul Depaulis, & Mathew Strocchia led to a fantastic finish.

Vs The Fundamentals Of Baseball “Dodgers”
The Athletics were at it again down at the yard this week. Our team’s Gold glove awards go to J.Tamara, M Femia, A Gullo and CJ Riccobono. The team’s Slugger awards go to M Coluccio, N.Labita, S DeRocchis all with 3 RBI’s and A Calandrea. Our Sandlot Slugger goes to CJ Riccobono with 2 doubles and 3RBI’s. Our team’s last award goes to M Keller for his gritty performance while behind the plate. Till next time always run ‘em out.

Vs. Modell’s “Twins”
The Nationals’ offensive attack was led by Shayne Simoncini and P.J. Vayias, both of whom scored twice. They were driven in after key hits by Alan Birnbaum, Nicholas Barry, John Tagios and Matthew Reda. Alex Banks, Daniel Mattei, and Daniel Goldberg continue to show improvement on both offense and defense while Chris Haughwout and John Vlantis contributed to an outstanding Nationals effort with a number of base hits and strong fielding, too.

Vs. New Hyde Park Elks Club “Braves”
Alex Banks and Alan Birnbaum had their strongest offensive games of the year, delivering a number of line-drive, run-scoring hits. John Vlantis and Daniel Goldberg scored two runs apiece, supplementing a Nationals defense which included excellent plays by John Tagios and Nicholas Barry. The Nationals’ Matthew Reda, P.J. Vayias, Chris Haughwout and Daniel Mattei hit the ball against the Braves as well as they’ve done so all year.

Vs. Dr. William Facibene, MD, PC “Nationals”
The Braves were lead by the hot hitting of Phil Schurr who had 5 hits on the night and played outstanding defense, catching. Other hitting stars were David Budhram who had 4 hits and played a solid defense on the pitchers mound. Michael Castelli was on fire at the plate with 5 hits and played solid defense. Eric Madenberg had 4 long hits and Eric played his usual gold glove defense. Demetris Panouis was solid again with 4 hits. Adrian Balkcom had 3 hits. Jake Blancher had 3 hits and made various plays in the field. Spencer Kern had 4 hits and played solid defense. Peter Carreca hit a long double in the first inning to drive in 2 runs and add to his doubles hit for the season at 8. Peter played outstanding defense at various positions and had 5 hits on the night. The Braves would like to wish all the Mom’s a Happy Mother’s Day!

Vs NHP Funeral Home “Cardinals”
Cardinal pitching handcuffed the Ranger bats all game. Call-up PJ Vayias got the Rangers sole run of the game. After a walk and 2 steals, PJ was driven in on an RBI single by Matt Fitzgerald. Dean Vayias was throwing strikes today and pitched a 1-2-3 inning with 3 strikeouts. Sean McClellan and Matt Fitzgerald also shared the pitching duties and both had solid outings on the mound. Catcher Nick Arman made a nice play to force a runner out at home and Sean McClellan made a great catch at first base to end a Cardinal rally in the 4th.

Hillside Beverage “Rangers”
It was another great outing for the mighty Cardinals who displayed power pitching and an offensive surge against a strong Rangers team today. Pitching stars Anthony Pitre and Thomas Mangin, each with 6 strikeouts, were not only dominant on the mound but contributed offensively with a single, double and 3 RBIs between the two of them. Alessandro Lacerra drove in 2 runs on 2 singles and Michael Mellone drove in a run on a single while Lucas Cowen drove in a run on a single and did a tremendous job behind the plate at catcher the entire game. Displaying patience at the plate were Jared Hodes, Scott Schanter, Christopher Delgiorno, and Ryan Hodes, each with a walk and a run scored. Jake Leventhal had 2 walks, 2 stolen bases and scored a run while Ryan Cooney had a walk and an RBI. Lance Montalbano once again flashed the leather in the outfield.
Baxter’s Sport Shop “Diamondbacks”
Vs. Knights of Columbus No. 2852 “Rockies”
After a long period of inactivity due to the rain, the Baxter’s Sport Shop Diamondbacks were back in action and lost a hard fought, 7-5 battle against the Rockin’ Rockies. The Diamondbacks were led by the strong pitching of Jordan Greiff, Charlie Goodwin, Elliot Weissman and Brian Volk. Hitting stars included Jack Tucker (big double), Ben Newman (loud triple), Jared Kaiman and Christopher Kerrane. Philip Chang, Dylan Schwartz and Dylan Kareff were alert and ready in the field.

The Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigman & Mackauf “Astros”
Vs. Hand Rolled Bagels “Pirates.”
The trio of Jonathan Farkas, Corey Rutkin and Luke Hoffman held the Pirates to 3 runs. Jared Schwartz and Corey Rutkin were involved in rundown which ended with Jared tagging the runner out at third base. Cole Romano also made a great defensive play at third base and David Lapidus made one while playing catcher to prevent the runner from scoring on a wild pitch. Offensively, the Astros were led by Tyler Weiss who scored twice, Andrew Kadish, who scored the winning run, and Dylan Silverstein, who added an insurance run. Adam Krieger’s play in the outfield helped secure the victory.

The Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigman & Mackauf “Astros”
Vs. Ridgewood Savings Bank “Reds”
Luke Hoffman and Corey Rutkin singled in their first at bats and they came around to score to give the Astros an early lead. Slater Dvoor, Mike Hershenhorn, Tyler Weiss & Andrew Kadish also had good at bats during the game. Defensively, the Astros were led by birthday boy, Kyle Berlinsky who retired the Reds in order in his 1st inning on the mound. Luke relieved Kyle before David Lapidus finished the game for the Astros. Dylan Silverstein made some fine plays at shortstop while Jared Schwartz had a good game behind the plate. Cole Romano and Jonathan Farkas were involved in tough plays on some hard hit balls. Adam Krieger had another good game in the field.

Vs. State Bank of Long Island “Pride” 7
The Cyclones scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to win a game that had them losing 6-0 and 7-6. The Cyclones gave up 6 runs in the 1st inning but slowly mounted a comeback when John Young homered in the bottom of the 1st. In the 3rd inning the Cyclones plated 3 runs when Tyler Ng and Matt Theodoropoulos worked at walks and scored on a Brandon Martinez double. John Young scored Brandon when he stroked a hard single to the outfield. The 5th inning started with walks being issued to Jeff Gordon and Matt Theo. Tyler Ng, got the biggest hit of the game when he doubled home Jeff and Matt to tie the game. After the Pride went ahead in the top of the 6th, the Cyclones answered when Mitch Cohen and Giuseppe LoDuca each singled to start the inning. Peter Dunn beat out a grounder to third for the third and final hit of the game. As the play was developing Mitch scored the tying run and Giuseppe hustled from second and beat the throw home to score the game-winning run. Jonathan Cioffi struck out 5 as he held the opposition to no runs over 3 innings and gave the Cyclones a chance to rebound. Nick Winkhart hit the ball well today going 2 for 3 (2 singles) & Edik Imanov played solid defense.
