Helen Angels (1923-2009), 86, passed away at home in Laurel Hollow, on the afternoon of May 20, 2009. Helen grew up in Greenwich Village the youngest of six siblings. During WWII she met her husband, then Staff Sergeant, George Angels. They married in September of 1945. Helen loved music, especially Jazz, and could tear up the dance floor better than anyone, most recently at the 2006 wedding of her eldest grandchild. Helen’s love of fashion was continuous throughout her life and she was always impeccably dressed right down to her Ferragamo shoes. Helen also loved cooking and entertaining. She will be remembered in the kitchen for her fabulous holiday meals which will never be matched. Helen was also politically active and donated to a variety of charitable organizations. She was smart, quick-witted, and always in on the joke. Helen is survived by her daughter Lynda, her son Geoff and his wife Lee Ann. Her grandchildren Jonathon and Samantha along with her husband Alex. Those who knew her say she was “one of a kind”. Funeral services at Oyster Bay Funeral Home. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery.
