Adam Chase, of Seaford, a senior at St. John’s University, won the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Men’s Championship in Dallas, Texas on May 19, 2009. He came from behind in 10th place to bowl 24 games to win the championship. He is considered the No. 1 men’s college bowler in the country. He averaged 201.50.
Accompanying him to Texas were his parents, Denise and Stuart Chase, his girlfriend Brittany Labate, and his good friend Robert Lovaglio. Adam may be on ABC-TV next May bowling in the Clash of Champions with a chance to win up to $50,000. Adam bowled four years at St. John’s ending his college career as captain. He also bowled for Island Trees H.S. earning MVP for three years, All-County for four years, and States in his senior year. He also had high average in the county.

Justine Rothar, a sophomore on the Farmingdale State College women’s lacrosse team, is the recent recipient of the 2009 Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Award. Rothar holds a 3.71 GPA in the Nursing Program and was named second team All Skyline after her freshman year in 2008, scoring 32 goals and 12 assists for a team-leading 44 points. This season she was named a team captain, broke the single-season scoring record with 82 points and was named Skyline Player of the Year. She helped her team to a first-ever Skyline Championship.
