Over The Hill Gang Softball Report

Under stormy skies, Changing Times Pub continued its fine play with a victory over Zwanger Pesiri Radiology. The final score was 26-4. Jack Scherer pitched another fine game and also hit an excellent 60-degree wedge (the envy of Lucas Glover). Jack received offensive support from himself (two hits), John Ochwat (two hits), Dave Thorburn (three hits), John Najdek (three hits), Anthony Porpora (three hits), John Hughes (two hits), Jerry Iavarone (two hits) and Ed Cullen (four hits). After 10 games, Changing Times has 5-4-1. Congratulations to all the Changing Times players for a well played game.

Barco Construction continued its fine play earning another victory with a win over LaCorte Family Auto 17-12. The Barco Boys’ offense started out slowly but they were able to keep pace with the LaCorte squad, being tied at three after two and at six heading into the bottom of the fourth when Barco’s bats woke up with a vengeance. The team erupted for nine runs to take the lead for good, going up 15-6. Steve Jacobson and Dennis Ryan had two run triples during the outbreak, along with RBI hits from Dave Ringer, Kevin Moloney and Rick Pedone. Dave Saur had a big game as he had two-run triple in the third among his three-hit, four RBI night. The team continued their team effort as 10 players (of 12) had two or more hits and RBIs, which is a necessary component to having a successful season. Rick Pedone continued his torrid hitting along with Dave Ringer, Bill White, Tony Ranieri, and Bob Diamond adding clutch hits and RBIs. Kevin Moloney gamely handled the SS duties again although it is rumored he’ll be bringing shin guards from now on. The victory pushed Barco’s record to a very solid 7-2, which is an indication of their steady play.

Moby Drugs is back. The team held Granny O’Shea’s Pub to only six runs on the way to a 16-6 win. At the plate, Moby scored 16 runs on 27 hits, including a two-run triple hit in the 7 inning, by Tommy Zarek.
