Gold Party/Boutique Showcase

The Hicksville VFW invites all to its Gold Party and Boutique Showcase to benefit our military veterans and troops overseas from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Hicksville VFW, 320 S. Broadway (one fifth mile south of Old Country Rd. on the west side of S. Broadway). Come for an evening of wine and cheese and see how much your broken and unwanted gold is worth. Your bling-bling 10kt, 14kt, 22kt, 24kt, gold coins, platinum and white gold are worth extra dollars – gold is now over $900 an ounce. Attending will be Avon, Tupperware, Tastefully Simple and a live demonstration by Pampered Chef along with displays from other vendors. For reservations, RSVP to Tim Glover 931-7843 or 644-5663.

Vacation Bible School

The Hicksville United Methodist Church, 130 W. Old Country Rd., invites children to go to the edge this summer at Camp E.D.G.E. (Experience and Discover God Everywhere). This extreme adventure camp takes kids on exciting Bible treks. The fun begins July 27 and ends July 31 from 9 a.m. to noon. To be a part of the experience call Jennifer Eichenauer 931-2626. Check out the booth at the Hicksville Street Fair on July 19 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Senior Adult Club Trip

Local Marines/Families Golf Outing

The 2nd Battalion, 25th Marines Association will host its third Annual Golf Outing at Eisenhower Park on Aug. 3 to raise funds for the support of local Marine Reservists and their families. Play will take place on the Red and White Courses with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Check in begins at 10 a.m., followed by a barbeque lunch. Play will be followed by a buffet dinner at the Carltun. Proceeds will help the nonprofit organization provide comfort and support to family members of deployed Marines; care packages for those on the frontlines of the War on Terror; and if need be, funds will be used to assist wounded Marines or provide for the survivors of any killed in the line of duty. Mercy League Trip

Renault Winery and overnight at Atlantic City’s Resorts Casino. The Glen Cove, Hicksville, Syosset Mercy League is going on Aug. 11 and 12 on this fun overnight. The trip includes a tour of the Renault Winery with luncheon, dancing and open bar at the winery. The on to Resorts Casino for the overnight stay. The cost is $125 D.D. with a $15 give back at Resorts. Payment in full is needed by July 1. For reservations call Jean 349-0444. All profit goes to Mercy Medical Center.

Call For Craft Vendors

Mill Neck Manor is calling for vendors of handmade items for its Annual Fall Harvest Festival, held on Oct. 10 and 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A favorite tradition on LI, visitors eagerly await the festival for its crafts, apples, pumpkins, pies and other delicious treats. Country crafts, offering handmade items and holiday gifts, are one of the festival’s main features. If you make or sell crafts and feel that you would be a great addition to the Festival, you are encouraged to apply. Vendors are assigned an outdoor space (10’x10’) with a table and two chairs. All vendors are required to have a tent or canopy; those vendors who do not own a suitable tent may rent one from Mill Neck Manor for a small fee. Freeport H.S. Class of 1959 50th Reunion

Member of the Freeport High School Class of 1959 have planned a gala weekend to celebrate their 50-year reunion from Sept.11 to 13. Begins Friday night with a meeting at E.B. Elliot’s on the Nautical Mile to renew old acquaintances. Saturday will find the group at Jones Beach Field 6 or at Museum Row riding Nunley’s Carousel once more, in the bleachers at the Freeport vs. Oceanside football game or just riding around the village visiting old haunts. At 7 p.m. converge at the Freeport Yacht Club for dinner and enjoyment of music of the ‘50s. Before starting home on Sunday, groups will meet at local diners for farewells over brunch.
