Retires After 24 Years of Service to the District
Dr. Edward Metzendorf, principal of Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School, has retired after 24 years of service to the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District. Dr. Metzendorf is revered by his colleagues, providing structure and stability to the Middle School.
“The Plainview-Old Bethpage School District has become a home to me,” said Dr. Metzendorf. “The personal and professional relationships I have had within the school community have been both wonderful and memorable.”
Dr. Metzendorf began his career in Plainview-Old Bethpage as the science chair in September of 1985, a position he held for five years. In September of 1990, Dr. Metzendorf became the assistant principal at Old Bethpage Elementary School. After a year, he accepted the position as principal of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School.
“Throughout his years within the district, Dr. Metzendorf provided a welcoming and supportive environment for the middle school children,” lauded Plainview-Old Bethpage District Superintendent Gerard Dempsey. “Dr. Metzendorf has served the Plainview-Old Bethpage community with great care and commitment.”
