Farmingdale Teen Charged With Assault

Fight Later Posted on Internet

The Eighth Squad recently reported the arrest of a Farmingdale teenager for assault on Aug. 6 at 10:55 p.m., in connection with an incident that occurred in North Massapequa.

According to detectives, on July 18, at 9:30 p.m., Ryan Codey, 17, of Farmingdale assaulted a 16-year-old victim, his former friend, in a wooded area. As a result of the assault, the victim sustained a fractured nose for which he reportedly continues to require treatment and surgery, police reported. Detectives reported that others present at the time of the assault recorded the act, which was later posted on YouTube, a video-sharing website.

Codey was arrested at his home and charged with Assault 2nd Degree. He was arraigned on Aug. 7 in First District Court in Hempstead. As of press time, he is being held at the Nassau County Correctional Center on $25,000 bond or $10,000 cash. The maximum sentence for his crime is seven years. He is being represented by the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County.
