Barco Construction bounced back into the win column with an impressive 17-14 victory over Lockie & Nowachek Family Chiropractors. Barco got off to a shaky start as L&N posted 4 in the 1st but Barco was able to bounce back taking a 6-4 lead after two. Bill White had a 2 out RBI in the 1st to put them on the board but it was the 5 run 2nd that gave them the lead. Bob Bergsten had the big hit, a 3 run HR that followed RBI hits by Bob Diamond and Jim Hose. After L&N tied it in the 4th Barco was able to regain the lead in the 5th again with Bob Bergsten being the spark, this time with his RBI triple, Terry (Where’s Waldo) McPartland and Russ Graham followed with clutch 2 out RBI hits. Barco padded the lead by eight more runs over the next two innings to go up 17-6. RBI hits came from Jim Weilmann (2), Bob Diamond, Jim Hose (2) and Bob Bergsten. Russ Graham capped off the Barco’s scoring with a monster HR in the 7th. All the extra runs were needed as L&N caught fire in the last inning (8th) giving the Barco Boys quite a scare scoring eight runs and had the tying runs on base when Dennis (gimpy leg and all) Ryan made a sparkling sliding grab that saved Barco’s win. The victory improved Barco to 12-3 and continued their hold of first place in the NL Division.
